How to monitor disks in RAID6 on Zabbix DB server for failures?

    Hello,

Can somone please tell me how Zabbix can monitor disks in RAID6 array for failures? We recently had a disk failure in the Zabbix DB server and did not realise it for a very long time.

    Thank you

It depends on how the raid is created. I've always had Dell PERC controllers, so the raid is hardware defined, the OS doesn't see it.* I monitor via snmp and the OpenManage template.

So, is there a tool for your raid? Does it have a Zabbix template? If not, you would you monitor it via the command line? Turn that command into a Zabbix UserParameter and create an item and trigger. I always suggest creating those in a template for reuse :-)

    * I know, there is probably a tool to access PERC raid from the OS, but using SNMP OpenManage is the same independent of host OS.
