    Plugins inventory

    Hi,
Is there a Zabbix plugins inventory/exchange like Nagios has ? in Zabbix homepage I see "3rd party tools" with only 15-20 tools, while Nagios has 4000+ !
Where can I find Zabbix plugins ?

    Hey iyossi,

Welcome to the forum. Let's not confuse 3rd party tools with plugins
For starters, you can browse this very forum for community submitted templates, patches etc. Aside from that, you can also check share.zabbix.com

    Cheers,

    Alex.

      Hi Alex,

I am sorry, but I don't understand the difference between 3rd party tools to plugins (assuming the tools are free ).

Additionally, Is there a good reason why Nagios has 3000+ plugins and Zabbix has (according to share.zabbix.com) about 100-200 ?

      Regards,
      Yossi

It's important to keep in mind, that Zabbix itself is quite a powerful tool right out of the box, so chances are it can already handle a decent range of the functionality some of those plugins bring.

Of course I am not going to say that Zabbix can handle *everything* right from the start, but since it is a true open source product, any user can customize the software according to his/her needs.

http://monitoringartist.github.io/zabbix-searcher/ - 567 projects at the moment and all of them have some minimal quality level in contrast of share.zabbix.com (IMHO that's also case of Nagios Exchange plugins - poor quality, so number of plugins is not the best stat).

Current stats of share.zabbix.com: 394 projects.

@iyossi: in nagios everything is a plugin.. SNMP-check, snmp-check for printer, snmp-check for ups, etc.. that are checks.. in zabbix this is called templates.. and you can easly query snmp-devices with oid or so.. in nagios you need a plugin for every single shit..

real plugins in zabbix are rae.. for example https://github.com/alexanderzobnin/grafana-zabbix or http://cavaliercoder.com/libzbxpgsql/ or https://github.com/macrokernel/zabbix-snmpbuilder .. i guess that a real plugins..
