Search by hostname instead of visible name

Hy, I would like to search by hostname instead of visible name in Zabbix. Currently I can only search by visible name. Is there a possibility within zabbix to search by host name?

global search works just as well with hostname. you can also drop IP-s there or template names

We want to search by hostname without using the global search on the upper left of the screen. Is there any possibility to do this? Can you do this with a script or macros?

Where exactly do you want to search? GUI options are pretty limited to that global search... But you can always use API and do any search you want...

OK.. Clear.
But seems like it will not work there.. If visible name is set then search will not look into hostname.
I still fail to see the use case, that global search will not satisfy.. Global search will give you both options in results, config and latest data... Even with partial match, you will get multiple hosts in list... Its just a small adjustment in work flow, I think...

DNS field finds hosts which have visible name set, ofcource you need to have that DNS-field filled within host configuration.
