cloned items history and trends

I'm currently using a template to monitor networkswitches. Network ports are discovered by LLD where the items have an interval of 3minutes.
For some items like uplinks i want to change the interval to 5seconds. The interval can't be changed on individual items because of the template.

I currently make a clone of the item and change the interval of the cloned item. But the history and trends of the cloned item are not copied.
What is best practice if you want the history and trends cloned to the new item? I read this have to be done on database level. Are there any other options?

Cloning is for creating a new item based on existing one. to reduce some manual work. But it has never had an option to copy over history or trends...

If you create items based on LLD, ,maybe you should look on "overrides" and based on discovery values set different parameters... https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...overy#override

Hi Cyber,
Using overrides is a good idea and can work if the uplink port on every switch is the same.
When the uplink on switch A is on port 1, and on switch B on port 2 then it doesn't work anymore. I have an item system.name which defines the switchname, but this can't be used in an override.

Well I dont know that network stuff too well and how that discovery is configure there... Can there be a port descriptor somewhere configured ? and polled during discovery? This has many "what if-s"..
