Setup SNMP in Zabbix 3.2

I have following this install guide to install the server in Ubuntu 14.04. The doco i used is here https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...s#debianubuntu

I would like to enable SNMP on the server, like it says in the doco https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...itemtypes/snmp

The doco says "To be able to retrieve data provided by SNMP agents on these devices, Zabbix server must be initially configured with SNMP support." And it points to https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...re_the_sources

From that, apparently i can only enable SNMP on the server when i install it from source. However i have installed it from the packages.

How can i enable SNMP on the server when it's already installed via the package?

I am in the same boat, no clear guidance for those of us that installed from the repo's as opposed to source. Anyone?

I never did find this solution. I re-installed it from source package instead. That gives you the latest version anyway. Unfortunately it does mean that updates will have to be done manually.

I had found a resolution.

I performed these steps on the zabbix-server:

apt-get install snmp snmp-mib-downloader

nano /etc/snmp/snmp.conf
#mibs

download-mibs

systemctl restart zabbix-server

when you start you zabbix-server you will find something like this in you logs:

 32163:20161028:123455.230 IPMI monitoring:           YES

 32163:20161028:123455.230 SMTP authentication:       YES
 32163:20161028:123455.230 Jabber notifications:      YES
 32163:20161028:123455.230 Ez Texting notifications:  YES
 32163:20161028:123455.230 ODBC:                      YES
 32163:20161028:123455.230 SSH2 support:              YES
 32163:20161028:123455.230 IPv6 support:              YES
 32163:20161028:123455.231 TLS support:               YES
 32163:20161028:123455.231 ******************************

here it means SNMP is enabled, now you can work with and create SNMP-items
