    Calculated traffic over a timeframe

I know this question has been answered in the past, but the answers are years old and the links no longer work. I’m hoping someone can help a newbee set up a counter on an interface so we can see how much traffic has crossed an interface for a period of time?

    please help….

I honestly not sure which links you referencing, but maybe if you'd give more details about what you have currently set up and what you want to achive as the result then people will be able to advise about it

What I'm trying to do is see how much data passes over a interface in a period of time.

Example, In the last 24hours how many Mb have passed over eth1 on a router. That way I can set triggers based on this.

        For an agent...
        net.if.in[if,<mode>]
        net.if.out[if,<mode>]

For network devices you need to find similar counters from appropriate MIB... maybe from http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/mibs/interfaces.html

Collect the metrics... Create whatever triggers you need.
