Updating Host information

Hello,

It may well have been mentioned earlier somewhere else, but my search gave me no relevant results so here it is:

How do you, in Zabbix GUI, update a host information?

I have 2 use-cases in which I end up having to 'unlink and clear' then re-link a template every time I want to update :

• items settings (typically time interval). Updating the template DOES NOT automatically transfer to the Host having the template linked.
• the default interface. Typically I have 2 IPs for SNMPv3. I can't tell Zabbix to switch from using one to the other by simply changing the default. It just doesn't change anything (tcpdump confirms this).

I did try multiple times, restarting the Zabbix server, etc. The only thing that work is the very manual process of unlink + clear, then re-link.

It feels tedious and wrong, so I'm assuming there is something I missed along the documentation, but I can't figure out what. Any help appreciated!

Answering to myself, the template will re-apply, but you may have to wait for while (over an hour in my case) before the change gets applied to the hosts.

As for the default interface, apparently it's by design unfortunately.
