'Unavailable by ICMP ping'

    'Unavailable by ICMP ping'

    Zabbix server can ping a host, but the host shows as 'Unavailable by ICMP ping' in Zabbix. any suggestions?

    did you set IPMIPOLLERS in zabbix configuration? it's required for ping from server/proxy.

    Also, ensure fping is installed (don't remember if it's installed by default).
    On top of it, you need to make sure that Zabbix server/proxy user under zabbix instance is installed have permission to run fping

      The polling worked before, and the host had connectivity issues. Now those issues are fixed, Zabbix can ping successfully from its OS, but Unavailable by ICMP ping is still triggered in dashboard/problems.

    IPMIPOLLERS are NOT required for pinging...

      Did you mean ICMP pingers and the StartPingers setting on server/proxy?

      OP: make sure the server/proxy has pingers running. Set StartPingers to something >= 1. Make sure that FpingLocation points to a working copy of fping and use that fping to test pinging the host showing problems (for starters).
