    monitoring gitlab 502 error

    Hello,

My Gitlab server : Local installation ( no public IP address assigned )
    Zabbix server :: remote server

I am trying to monitor my gitlab installation, As I am getting 502 error messages in my current installation.

When the time of this error I can see the following error messages ::
    10.10.10.112 - - [01/Jul/2016:09:07:43 -0500] "GET /users/sign_in HTTP/1.1" 502 2204 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.63 Safari/537.36"

So how can I monitor my gitlab installation whenever the web application showing 502 error zabbix server will get alerted. Please give me some solutions for solving this issue.

    Thank you,

    Hi!
Looks like something is wrong with routing between machines or ports closed.
In order to monitor, you need to have connection between Zabbix server and monitored device. It can be connected locally, by VPN or Internet.
By default, Zabbix server listen port 10051 (for active checks)
Zabbix Agent listening port 10050 (for passive checks)
If you have few locations it is reasonable to use Zabbix Proxy and setup VPN or Encrypted connection between Zabbix server and Proxy.
By default Proxy is listening port 10051 (the same as Server)
    Hope this information was useful.
    Br, Alexander

      Hi,

I can connect Zabbix server from gitlab machine. I have already configured the disk monitoring , RAM usage etc. But now I want to monitor the Gitlab web site, which is regularly showing 502 error.

      ubuntu@gitlab:~$ telnet myzabbix_ipaddress 10051
      Connected to myzabbix_ipaddress.
      Escape character is '^]'.
      Connection closed by foreign host.
      ubuntu@gitlab:~$

        Hi!
In regards of WEB site availability monitoring:
        1. Create WEB site monitoring scenario on the Host. Here is real life example how it can be done.
After this step successfully done you will see web site status in the Monitoring - Web
        2. Now need to define problem conditions, - Trigger/s. Can find few examples here

Please, do not hesitate to write additional questions and provide information on which step you stopped.
        Regards,
        Alexander
