Cannot use network interface as link in map

When I try to create a map, I will create 2 icons and a link between them. However, I could not find the trigger which create thru template, e.g. network/disk

Is there anyone figure out it and resolve or workaround this?

You through me at the template step.

Maps are against hosts and triggers of hosts, not triggers of templates; i.e. they are already realized by the time you connect them and put triggers on the link. So they are connections to a host's triggers, not a trigger prototype or a trigger in a template (even though it comes from the template).

So for example, if that link is a connection from interface X on one host to interface Y on another, you could put the trigger on either a "down" indication for X or Y (I can't recall but I think also on both). You can also pick an unrelated indication, for example if Y is remote and connected only by that link, you can just use a "unreachable by ICMP" to the firewall or outer at the remote site, not an interface or link itself. You just need something that will trigger when the link should change color on the map, it does not have to be directly against a part of the link.
