    Value Maps and graphing

On zabbix 1.1.3 i've configured a value map to swap the values returned from the simple ping check.

This seems to work and when i show latest data I get:

    ***.com Ping Check 19 Nov 20:18:40 0 (1) - Graph
    ***.com Ping Check 19 Nov 20:18:44 1 (0) - Graph
    ***.com Ping Check 19 Nov 20:18:40 0 (1) - Graph

However, when I look at te graphs they graph the original value and not the mapped value.

How can I force the graphs to show the mapped value and not the original value?

Valu mapping is for data representation only. It is not supposed to be used for substitution of actual data.

      Thank you for your reply.

If value maps are not intended to be used in this way, is there any way of achieving what I want?

Basically I want to have a dashboard on a large LCD and some obvious signal that a host is down.

I had planned to try and swap the values returned from the simple ping check so that a 1 was returned (and graphed as a filled area) when a host was down so i'd see large red blocks if something was dead.

I appreciate any help you can give me!

You may consider creating a map with different icons for different host statuses.

          Data values transformation

I think this idea will be very useful in graphs.

In my case I would be interested in this functionallity to differentiate up or down but the snmp interface MIB gives 6 different states. Clients graphical reports only want to know the availability.

Are there any way to make this information available?

          R-ds.
