Windows Server 2019 Hyper-V, Ubuntu 22.04, Zabbix 6.4, Agent 2 v6.0 on all hosts
Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent. “Requires agent of Zabbix 4.4 and newer.”
I’ve been upgrading Zabbix and its components. First migrated from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 22.04. Then upgraded Zabbix to version 6.4. Then upgraded all the host agents to Agent2 v6.0. Everything works correctly.
The templates had never been upgraded from when we first installed Zabbix, version 4.4. I unlinked a template from its hosts, upgraded the template and re-linked the hosts. I did several small groups first and everything went well.
Next, I unlinked all Windows hosts and upgraded “Template OS Windows by Zabbix Agent” to version 6. When re-linking the template I got the following error.
and then:
I had created a Hyper-V production checkpoint before updating the template. I rolled the server back and deleted all the graphs on the linked Windows templates.
Then, I updated the template and re-linked the hosts. Everything worked fine for about 1 hour. Then 90% of Zabbix data collection stopped, including items that have nothing to do with the Windows template. A few things continued, such as memory utilization. I rolled the server back to a checkpoint taken before the upgrade. Data collection worked for an hour before it stopped again. I had to restore the server using the nightly backup for it to work correctly.
I repeated the same process the next day with the exact same results.
I looked in the server log and did not see anything helpful. I thought about upgrading to v5 first to see if that template will work, but I’m skeptical.
Any ideas?
