    Zabbix Events, Triggers, Etc

Just trying to work out how to handle/manage the volume/noise of problems coming in, specifically with regards to the following:

    Suppressing Problems Entirely
There are some problems which I'm not really interested in seeing for any devices (whether already added to Zabbix or any future devices which are yet to be added), for example, the High ICMP ping response time. I was trying to find where this check could be disabled. Another is the interface bandwdith alarm.

Interface Problems Based on Regex of Value
We have a standard interface description and would like to do the following:
    • Suppress any interface problems if they do not contain any of our pre-defined strings in the interface description.
    • Change the problem severity based on a regex parse of the interface description.
For example, lets assume we have four interfaces with the following descriptions:
    • inet:blah
    • cloud:blah
    • dc:blah
    • server01
I would like to not have any problems turn up if an interface without either "inet:" or "cloud:" or "dc:" etc in the interface description suppressed/silenced. This essentially means, if server01 goes down we will not be notified of it (the team looking after server01 will have their own monitoring in place).

I looked around but couldn't find anything to help point me in this direction.

    Thanks

You should be able to tweak templates and discovery of interfaces so it will only pick up those you need. If you still want others to be discovered but not alerting, look over the overrides, which allows creating and enabling/disabling of things during discovery.
That high icmp response time, just track back to template and disable the trigger in template, it will affect all hosts, where it is installed.

Thank you, would you happen to know of any documents/pages for reference which I could use for tweaking the templates? That sounds like it's exactly what I'm after.

        Docs are here.. https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...evel_discovery
Having no idea what templates you are using, its a bit hard to point towards something... but if I take some general Cisco template https://www.zabbix.com/integrations/cisco_snmp then there are macros with "MATCHES" or "NOT_MATCHES" in their name... by default empty, but you should be able to add regexes there.
