Updating items created from Item Prototypes in discovery rules

Can you update items that are create from item prototypes (which are inherently part of discovery rules)? If I update the preprocessing on an item prototype, already created items do not get the updated preprocessing. Also, at least from the GUI, it does not seem like items that are created from discovery are editable. When you edit a trigger prototype, that seems to be propagated to all triggers that are created from it - I am wondering why this would not be the same with item prototypes? Thanks for any assistance.

Any thoughts on this? Assuming items created from prototypes aren't updated automatically, how would it be possible to do that without completely removing/re-adding a template and losing all of the related data?

Bump. Assuming someone has to know if this is possible. Thanks.

As far as I know, the discovery item prototype is not editable. You can modify the item from discovery rule only.

The thing in your discovery rule IS prototype, so it is editable.

Changes in item prototype should be reflected in items just like with triggers. Was the new discovery done after changes?
There is no mention of versions used... But I would assume, if such thing is not reflected it should be reported as bug...

I am on 6.0.0. If by new discovery you mean Execute Now on the host/template, then yes. I can see that the item prototype on the host gets updated, but the item that was created from the prototype will never get the changes to the preprocessing (unless I unlink/clear, readd template).

Mean item will get the value only once while you unlink/clear or readd the template right?

Correct - the only way for the item to get the correct value with the updated preprocessing is to unlink/clear and readd the template.

Can you share the screenshot of item prototype and preprocessing?
