Upgrade Server and agent

Hi guys,
I need advice on how to upgrade my servers.

I have a server with version 4.0.0alpha5 and other agents with version 5.0.8 and 4.0.0rc3 the host OSs are Debian 10 and Ubuntu.
I want to upgrade the server and the agents to the 6.0 LTS.

How should I do that? First, the Server or the agents? All these machines were installed using the repo "https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/4.0/debian/pool/main/z/zabbix-release/zabbix-release_4.0-4+debian11_all.deb"
and "https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/4.5/ubuntu/pool/main/z/zabbix-release/zabbix-release_4.5-1%2Bbionic_all.deb"

But usually it would be best to start with server and then move to agents, as older agents can work with newer server, but it might not be the other way around...

Or install the repository package for 6.0 called zabbix-release and then just apt install zabbix-server-<database> and zabbix-agent:

As you said,

"Older proxies no longer can report data to an upgraded server;
Newer agents no longer will be able to work with an older Zabbix server."

So, because I don't have a proxy, I need to start with the server.

dimir you are right, the problem here is that the repo is pointing to the "https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/4.0/debian/pool/main/z/zabbix-release/zabbix-release_4.0-4+debian11_all.deb"


Now, I found that the server is old, and I have to upgrade it too, It is an Ubuntu distro and we want to move to Debian, Is there a way to move everything too? with everything I mean all the settings and info.
