    snmp off

I have a stack of 2 switches hp pro curve. In zabbix my 1st switch is showing snmp as "Timeout while connecting to "ip address". But I can ping that address fine. My 2nd switch in the stack has no issue and showing snmp on in zabbix.

When I log into both the stacks snmp is on.
    command used:
    show snmp-server

How come zabbix is showing as timeout when i can ping ip fine from zabbix server? How do I resolve this?

Ping uses ICMP and SNMP uses UDP protocol.
Answering on one protocol does not mean that the same will be with second one.

Check CPU usage on both switches on which is running SNMP agent on those switches.

What will looking at cpu usage tell me. How does that show me why snmp on zabbix for that switch is off?

          Hi,

Check template's snmp string of if you are using template. Some template use "public" as default snmp string.
