Need to create Simple ping check to a certain IP adress using Zabbix Agent

Hello,

I have to create a simple ping to a certain IP adress, my idea was to create an item with a certain key, but problem is that I will have to change the config file on each server which I don't want.

Let's say my server is connected to a router via an Ethernet cable, I want to create a ping check to this router (or default gateway) using Zabbix Agent, is this possible with ICMP, SNMP or even a SNMP trap?

Yes, you can achieve a ping check to the router or default gateway using Zabbix with ICMP or SNMP. No need to modify the configuration files on each server.

Could you tell me can I do that, do I just create a host with the router IP and then put ICMP ping item on it?
