Need pointer - want to upgrade and migrate at the same time

It seems likely this has been discussed before, so a pointer to a thread (or other documentation) would be greatly appreciated.

We currently run Zabbix v5 on CentOS 7 in a Docker container. We are currently building out a RHEL 8 VM, which we want to move Zabbix onto.

If possible, I would like to install Zabbix 6.4 and be able to backup/restore the current MySQL DB data to it. If it takes several steps, then so be it, but I am not certain the best way to get this done.

Yes, this has been discussed a lot...
Short... take a backup of your old DB... set up your new platform, but do not create new DB (with new schema), but restore your old DB to new platform... then, at first startup of your new server, if everything is ok and moon is exactly in the right place, it "should" do all the upgrade tasks, adds needed tables, converts stuff, etc. (The moon part is a joke...). Examine logfiles, fix errors if they appear, repeat startup until you do not fail...
I went from 4.4 to 6.0 similar way, just had to deal with PG instead of MySql...

Thanks - that is what I am hoping will happen (once the moon is full, maybe? ), but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts / pointers to offer.
Working...
