    Text change trigger

    Hi,

I've trying to construct a trigger to alert if a TEXT value doesn't change within a period of time.

What I'm after to testing that a volume name has changed when a backup disk is changed, i.e. the same disk hasn't been left in place.

    I've tried the following:
    {HOST:fdrive.volumename.last()}={HOST:fdrive.volum ename.last(#10)}

    Ant the following:
    {HOST:fdrive.volumename.delta(10)}=0

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Does the item history show the value change?

Probably obvious, but got to start somewhere :-)

Yes, the value is definitely changing:

      2016-09-07 15:37:34
Volume in drive F is Tuesday - Week 44

If you had a file on the system with the volume name, you could do this identically to the "Checksum of /etc/passwd" item and related trigger in the supplied Linux template.

I suspect that this has something to do with the item being text, not numeric. If I read the doc right, abschange or change should return 1 when the text changes, but diff says it support text, at least at my 2.4 level.

What version of Zabbix? Maybe it's time for a bug report.

          We're running 3.0.2.

I'll try abschange and report back.

            Still no joy.

I think looking at the Zabbix documentation, none of the trigger functions which support the value counts also support text / str data types.

As a fall back, I think I may have to script the check to produce an integer.
