How to monitor zabbix active agent host

    Hi,

Zabbix newbie here I wonder, what is the best way to monitor zabbix active agent availability if there is no way to use passive ping?

I can see that there is "Linux: Zabbix agent ping" item, it even has the triger but for some reason this triggger is set up to fire up after 30m by default. This time is defined in macro which has interesting description "No data timeout for active agents. Consider to keep it relatively high."

So can anyone explain me why is this time period is set to such high value and what is the best way to monitor active agent availability?

Find an item that is working that updates frequently, I think I used free memory, put a no data trigger on that item.

Is there any reason for the such long trigger which is related to the "Linux: Zabbix agent ping" item? Why is the default 30m? Can you comment on this trigger's description: "No data timeout for active agents. Consider to keep it relatively high." Why do I need to keep it so high?

Are there any other ways to monitor active agent availability that are more reliable than the "Linux: Zabbix agent ping" item trigger?
