How to alert for events that started during a maintenance period

I have maintenance periods for backups. The problem is that sometimes real problems appear during that timespan. How can I be alerted for events that started during that period IF they persist after the window is over?

Hi. If you configure maintenance periods with data collection, then all triggers that are in Problem state by the end of the maintenance window should still be generating alerts.

That is strange... I do configure them with data collection but for those times no triggers fire it seems.
