    Update Zabbix

    Hi everyone,

Currently, we are running the Zabbix server on version 'Zabbix 5.4.3,' and we need to upgrade it to the latest version. The challenge is that we have more than 100 servers and security devices, including Linux servers, Windows servers, Hyper-V, and Firewalls.

I would like to know how I can update the agents on these servers and security devices without manual updates one by one, as it would be time-consuming. Is there a solution that allows me to update the agents and Zabbix server simultaneously?

    Thank you!

Hi, please see the documentation: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../compatibility

To be compatible with Zabbix 6.4, Zabbix agent must not be older than version 1.4 and must not be newer than 6.4.
So, for the agent part, there is no need to upgrade the Zabbix agents at the same time with the Zabbix server.

      Hi Markku,

Thank you for your response. You mentioned that there is no need to update the agent at the same time but later it will be required. Is there any technique through which I can update them with a single click, meaning to update them simultaneously without accessing each server?

Note that I didn't say anything like that, and the documentation didn't say that either.

If you don't use any features provided by newer agents, and you are fine with running old and possibly buggy agents on your hosts, there is no need to upgrade the agents.

What you are asking for is software installation management, that's not done with Zabbix, you must use some external management software for that. Ask your server/systems management team what do they use for that.

Thank you for correcting me. Could you please share the link for the Zabbix server upgrade procedure? I would greatly appreciate it.

          Thank you.
