How to figure out what action is defined for a template?

    Hi,

I have this strange problem now a days, where though i have not defined any action (sending email) for a template ( trigger) i am getting emails.
Problem here is, since i have different family of devices (compute, network) i need to make sure, compute emails does not go to network - for this i have diff set of templates and triggers, and i clearly defined triggers for diff emails.

Now, i am for some set of devices i am getting alerts, and i don't see actions defined. Under events i can see that emails has been sent, but i am just not sure from which action so that i can change the email.

Question: So if a template is created, and trigger defined with severity, and will the action created automatically ( not that i know of but still asking)

Also without action, will there be any emails going out of the system ( as alerts? )

    Thanks

    Hi, zabbixfk.

Just add macros {ACTION.NAME} into your messages, and you'll see, which action sent this mail.

How to figure out what action is defined for a template?

      Thanks for the reply.

But where do i add this {ACTION.NAME}, in default message for a action right, now the problem is i am not able to figure out which action triggered these emails ( or a set of them).
I went to every action i created ( to send email) and i am not able to see any action which sends email for particular group, that is the reason i wanted to do back reference.

I have these set of emails which seems to be came in from actions, ( because i believe , unless action to send email created, emails won't be sent for a trigger, rather it just shows alert on dashboard or under events) - and i would like to know which action triggered that email.

Basically problem is : there seems to be set of emails triggered from zabbix to some groups in case of some set of triggers, and i am not able to locate the action to send emails for those triggers, atleast i don't see them under configuration->actions. So wondering, is there any way to look into db or backreference to see what is happening.

      Thanks.

How to figure out what action is defined for a template? Email going for wrong group

Can somebody help me in understanding this behaviour?

        - When we create a user ( Administration-User) and define a media ( email id) and severity, ( Not Classified, Avg , disaster etc) - will the email go to user in case of user is part of some groups where host inside the group is having a trigger? - OR this is just for configuration, and only if a action is defined for a trigger then only email would trigger?

        I am on
        Code:
        Zabbix server v2.2.12 (revision 59538) (20 April 2016)
        Compilation time: May 1 2016 13:17:20
        Thanks

Email always sends by actions, and to those users and user groups, who listed in action, but if user hasn't rights for triggered host group, he will not receive mail.
Exception - database down message (Administration - General - Other).

            Thanks for the reply,

looks like some screwup happening in my case. Though i could see acitons not defined for that trigger, i see emails flowing. Not sure, how to debug this.

I tried disabling all actions, and there was no email.
One more point to confirm, what's that severity thing when i add the user media via administration-users? How does it matter? I mean does it have any relation to email sending trigger?

So are you saying if i don't have any action, i should't get any email for any trigger right?

            Thanks

How to figure out what action is defined for a template?

              Just confirmed one thing -

              - When i change the trigger name, its getting reflected in emails. Though i don't have any specific action defined for this trigger to send email, this is happening,
might be a bug? Or am i looking at some wrong place?
This is happening from about 7-10 days, looks like some configs got screwed up,.

              Thanks

Emails going to diff groups in case of trigger

                *bump*

Emails going to diff groups in case of trigger - i have changed the subject as well. I am having tough time figuring out why this is happening.
Just because a user is part of those groups, he shouldn't be getting trigger emails - with trigger subject - when he is not part of email group from actions.
Looks like a bug to me, can somebody help me figuring out how to find out what is the actual issue here.

                Thanks

                  Really need some pointers/help here.
I am seeing emails in case of trigger for groups/emailID's which are not defined in action. Only common link is those users/emailID's can access groups where the action for host is defined.

                  How do i resolve this?

                  Thanks

[SOLVED]How to figure out what action is defined for a template?

                    Hey there,

I got this issue resolved post deleting all the actions and creating fresh ones.
One thing i did changed here is, i created groups ( Email Alias DL's) which should have only read acces to host groups and with only email id's. Rest of the users are only to login and view dashboards, and no emails are configured.
And under actions i gave Email Alias DL's group address so that only those (only one) can receive email.

                    Thanks
