    Monitor specific point to point connection in map

    How do I set a specific trigger for link indicator for in a map.

    If I have a point to point connection and if 1 link goes down I want to see the trigger activate.

    Server1 has 10g point to point to Server2.

    Server 1 Ethernet connection is 10g4 going into server2 adapter Adapter X520-2 #4. If that links breaks I want to be able to get a alert and the map indicator changes from green to red.

    I know how to change the colour but when selecting a trigger to monitor I do not see the specific network cards Ethernet ports to monitor for that host.

    At present I can monitor if the host goes down but not if the specific connection is broken.

    which OS are Server1/2 has?

    and you must create an item/you must monitor the network connection..
    take a look at /sys/class/net/*/operstate and/or /sys/class/net/*/carrier

        ok then you need a userparameter like

        Code:
        UserParameter=net.if.status[*],cat /sys/class/net/$1/operstate

        for more information take a look into kernel-doc: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documenta...ysfs-class-net

        i hope it helps

            So I have data now going from the item, created a template and added the item to the template. As I would have various ones from other servers that are point to point. But now I need to see this work as a trigger on the network map.

              create a trigger like if item != up then problem

              and then create a link between this two servers (mark both and add link)

              and then look at the screenshot

                this all works now, will now need to test by physically removing the cable rather than just altering the trigger. will let you know if this works.
