Frontend Maintenance doesn't work for ip range access

When setting a frontend maintenance i can't set a IP range that should have access to the frontend. Only a single ip number works.
According to the manual you can use 192.168.2.1-255 but that doesn't work.

How can i set it up so i can use more than 1 ip number....

Please try to describe in the following manner.
ex.

array('192.168.2.1', '192.168.2.2')
