Zabbix tons of notifications

Hi, i have zabbix running for about 6 months and it's a great monitoring tool, today we experienced a cut in our data link to our data center so zabbix couldn't reach any server, so tons and tons of notifications where triggered and i didn't knew how to stopped them, i did a bulk ack but notificactions where already pending and we had to let them finish, so i want to ask you guys how i can avoid this problem next time zabbix can't reach servers?

Hello dmayorgap,

Actually there is not much you can do about this.
Even a maintenance period won't stop notifications if escalations already started.
Only way would be clear escalations table from database, but consider this as option only if you know what you are doing.

Or use a proxy at your datacenter, you can set it up so you get one alert that your proxy is unreachable, the proxy will cache all the host agent data until the link comes back up.
