    Network discovery extremely slow

    Hello, I'm running 6.4.11 on Ubuntu 22.04.

I am finding discovering network devices to be extremely slow, by hours.

I've currently configured a discovery rule to find devices on subnet 192.168.250.0/24
I'm looking for cisco devices so my checks are:
    SNMPv2 agent "1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0"
    SNMPv2 agent "1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0"

If I set it up in the morning, I'll find that nothing will get discovered by the end of my workday and so I won't see anything until the next morning when I come in. This slowness occurs even if I only specify one IP address. I've tested 192.168.250.35 with snmpwalk and adding it manually as a host. Both 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0 and 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 return values and when added as a host with the Cisco iOS by SNMP template, the SNMP agent indicator turns green inside of 30 seconds. I'll have to wait until the next morning to see it in the discovery list. further, I've also tested 192.168.250.1 with snmpwalk and manually adding as a host, with the same results of 192.168.250.35, however discovery never seems to find that device at all.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on, or what and where I should look to figure out what's going on?

TBH, I have never understood that network discovery ... you already added hosts, why rediscover those..:P

Because I'm testing discovery functionality and discovery rules. I used snmpwalk and added them as hosts to verify that Zabbix could see them and not only see the OIDs but also the correct values for them, that way I can be confident that the network discovery will find all the other switches and the discovery rules will add them as hosts correctly. However that doesn't seem to be happening and I'm trying to figure out why. I don't want to have to add all the devices manually, I want the discovery rules to do it for me.

If you have somekind of CMDB like thing or a way to export your net devices from somekind of central tool.. you are better off doing that and importing them over API, than discovering them ... Just my opinion...
