    How to update Zabbix from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6rc1

    Hi All,

    I was used YUM INSATLL to install the 3.0 version few months ago, and now need to update by source to 3.0.6rc1 in order to fix ODBC problem, https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-11213 which suddenly appeared...

    However, I don't know how to config the source and make it work with installed Zabbix 3.0.5 compatibility. I afraid it will install another zabbix server and may turn down my existing one.

    Could any one teach me how can I do ?

    Thank you.

        Hi Mark,

        Are you still having issues with updating... I cant find 3.0.6rc1 in the repo's

        I'm assuming you are running rhel7 / Centos7

        Why dont you just update to v3.2.1

        I'd always recommend a full DB backup first though.

        Code:
        systemctl stop zabbix-server
        to stop any further transactions

        Code:
        rpm -ivh http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/3.2/rhel/7/x86_64/zabbix-release-3.2-1.el7.noarch.rpm
        You may need to use the --replacefiles switch if you receive errors with the above command.

        Code:
        yum update
        Code:
        yum install zabbix-server-mysql zabbix-web-mysql zabbix-agent
        The Database upgrade can take some time depending on how large it is.

        The new version will just update your current install...

          Hi boyemillar,
          Thank you for your reply.

          3.0.6rc1 is not yet release but can found in development source.

          Since yum upgrade to 3.2 cannot fix the ODBC bug for oracle, therefore I need to update the current zabbix to 3.0.6rc1

            For patch processing, expand the source file and use the patch command.

            Code:
            $ tar zxvf zabbix-3.0.5.tar.gz
            $ cd zabbix-3.0.5
            $ cp somewhere/ZBX-11213.patch .
            $ patch -p0 < ZBX-11213.patch
            After that, please execute from configure like the ordinary source installation.

            It is better not to use the nightly builds because it may not work properly.

              Thank you Atsushi,

              but my concern is the existing zabbix is using yum to install,
              if i use source code to compile it and make install, will it be installed into different directory? or become two zabbix being installed?

                Just compile it.
                You should be able to replace the compiled binary.
                (zabbix_server_mysql or zabbix_server_pgsql)

                However, if you replace the executable file of the package,
                you should specify the same arguments as the package when running configure.

                If it is difficult to work by yourself,
                it may be better to contact Zabbix partner with a support contract.
