How it communicates with zabbix-web and zabbix server?

Zabbix web directly communicates with the zabbix server? Or the zabbix web interface, only through the database with the zabbix server?

The Web frontend communicates directly only to check if the zabbix server process is running.
The result is displayed at the top of the dashboard.

Zabbix server is running : Yes

All other monitoring settings etc. exchange information via the database.
