    Same item for multiple templates?

    Hi,

I've added a bunch of MikroTik hosts using what I think are the templates included by default. There are templates for each router model. I'm sort of new to Zabbix. I noticed that the default alerting policy was rather generous for my purpose, only considering the host down after three minutes. (ICMP loss) When I went to edit this, I realised that I would need to do so for every single template in order to achieve the same policy across the board, not to mention should I want to change any other items, too. That's a disaster. Is there a better way to manage this that doesn't involve forgoing the platform specific templates?

Moving such global items to separate template and assigning to all of the devices... It still requires you to edit all of those templates and removing items from them.. But its the "painful end vs endless pain"...

Thanks! I can live with making an initial effort if it at least means it makes future changes easier. I kinda forgot you can assign multiple templates to a host, too. Even better, I noticed that you can make templates inherit other templates, and an ICMP template already exists, so all I need to do is assign that template to all my platform templates, which should be easy thanks to mass updating, as well as remove the platform specific triggers, which should not be too difficult using the global trigger list.
