Compatibility between zabbix agent version 6.0.30 and server 5.0.2 ?

Hi all,

Up until now I have been using zabbix server version 5.0.2 and zabbix agent version 5.0.22.

I want to add another server which is running Debian 12 and for Debian 12 the lowest zabbix version available is 6.0, more precisely 6.0.30.

My question is: will zabbix client version 6.0.30 work with zabbix server 5.0.2?

If not, what is the solution?

Let's see what Zabbix documentation says about it:

Note that Zabbix agent newer than 5.0 cannot be used with Zabbix server 5.0.

But, you could still try it and see, of course. Maybe it works just enough for your use case.

Upgrading the server to 6.0.x shouldn't be too hard, just see and understand all the release and upgrade notes between your current version and the target version. I loved the 5.0 -> 6.0 upgrade because of the new trigger expression syntax alone.
