    System load meaning

    Hello folks:
I wanted to know what is the exact meaning of System load in Zabbix 2.0 monitoring graphs, and what's its relation with CPU util or RAM usage.

    Thanks in advance

You'd be amazed at how many self-proclaimed "senior" sysadmins I've interviewed over the years that have absolutely no idea what "CPU load" actually means on a unix box. It's embarrassing (for them).

Just to clarify a bit for the OP: it's the number of jobs in the run queue for CPU. Generally speaking, you want this number to be lower than the number of CPU cores you have. Here's a page to illustrate:

Most people have an inkling of what the load averages mean: the three numbers represent averages over progressively longer periods of time (one, five, and fifteen-minute averages), and that lower numbers are better. Higher numbers represent a problem or an overloaded machine.
