New install, new to Linux, can't get past step 2-C

Hi, I've got very basic Linux knowledge. I am trying to setup Zabbix 7.0 on Debian 12.4 as a frontend server with mysql and Apache. After a few issues that I've figured out, I am stuck on step 2C. I don't know how to get the database server up and running, there are no instructions. I've used Windows based programs like this that just install the SQL instance as part of the program, or have a step where they tell you to install SQL and how to proceed from there. The directions on the Zabbix web page don't explain this at all, and neither does the "documentation" link, which is mostly a lot of Linux stuff apparently geared towards people who use Linux all the time.
    Any help is appreciated.

The error is: can't connect to local server through socket mysqld.sock

Hi, what kind of specific difficulties did you encounter when trying to search for "installing mysql server on debian 12"? I think there is no Debian-provided package for MySQL server so you need to get it from Oracle and use their instructions.

I have always used MariaDB with Debian, it has worked just fine with Zabbix, it is compatible with the MySQL variant of Zabbix server. sudo apt install mariadb-server gets it installed.

Hi Markku, thank you for that response. That explains why I couldn't find that in the software manager. I will look for MariaDB and see if that can let me continue on.
