I wanted to monitor SIP trunk service (ping just check icmp). To check if a SIP peer/trunk service is working a SIP OPTIONS packet can be sent to a SIP Peer, and he will respond with another SIP OPTIONS packet as SIP service is alive (like it was http or smtp service check).
SIP OPTIONS has a specific packet format structure that would be needed on Zabbix to do the check. This is like there wouldn't be a HTTP check on Zabbix.
How could be possible to have a SIP OPTIONS or another kind of SIP check?
i have sip trunks using asterisk but i do not monitor them by ping i simply
made a script to go over asterisk -rx "sip show peers"
and if a trunk is down it shows UNREACHABLE and like that i have notification.
if you want to monitor that with the OPTION then make a script testing with wireshark and thats it
