MySQL growing - will migrating to PostGres fix the issue?

    Hi all,
We are currently monitoring several hundred servers, 100+ switches etc. The Zabbix server has repeatedly run out of space in recent weeks. The ibdata1 file is closing on on 700GB. I am on the understanding that the growth of this file is a "feature" of MySQL. I am certainly not a DB Admin in any shape or form however I was wondering whether migrating the database to Postgres will decrease the storage required and fix the issue with the ever expanding ibdata1 file.
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Marc

Partitioning your DB and also using file per table option makes the difference. No matter, if it is mysql or PG. There are topics on this around. Someone just recently shared their scripts to do it for Mysql ...
I think mysql/mariadb by default do not release the used disk and you need some manual intervention for it (optimize etc..). PG manages a bit better and if you also use timescale, it will clean up after itself pretty nicely.
