    Zabbix SMS

I have read a great deal about Zabbix SMS alerts but all of the articles I have found talk about outdated hardware. Does anyone have any experience with or suggestions of "up to date" hardware / modem that is still available for purchase that will work with this? I would really like to get SMS working to alert when Internet is down.

    Thanks, in advance!

Thank You Donkey for that information. However I am looking for a way to get notified when the Internet is not available. Either due to Fiber Cut, Gateway failure, something like that. We had a massive outage here two weeks ago that snuck up on me because notifications could not get out to me because the internet in our area was the thing that had failed.

      Hey,

I know that might not answer your question about SMS alerts, but I think that might help you.

Did you considered running an Zabbix Proxy in different localization or in cloud? With use of Zabbix Proxy you would be able to check if everything works with that instance where you wanted to setup SMS alerts, but of course there is a need of public IP and etc...

Zabbix proxy can also send notifications, you can read more about Zabbix proxy here: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...concepts/proxy

It might help you with issue of gateway failure, if Proxy instance would detect some issues with non-proxy instance it can also send you notifications, just like Zabbix Server instance.

And where exactly do you see anything about proxy being able to send notifications? No proxy can send you any notifications... They are data collectors, they do not calculate anything they don't make any decisions. They gather data and forward it to server... that's it.

          Dear Members,
I am working with D'Link DWR 910M to send SMS from Zabbix application. I have installed the Zabbix application in Ubuntu Linux.

The dongle is not detected when i insert the Dongle into the USB slot. Can i check if anyone managed to get the D'Link DWR 910M dongle to send SMS from Zabbix?

          thanks!
