Zabbix message length

Disclaimer - Zabbix was dropped on me, my knowledge is (currently) minimal.

I am seeing the following messages in the zabbix_server.log:

31627:20170119:094125.343 Message from x.x.x.x is longer than expected 183 bytes. Message ignored

this appears to be due to something an application is sending to zabbix (zabbix adapter?). Is it possible to see what the message length is set at and can this message length be changed?

I've tried searching/google, but given my lack of knowledge, aside from the error message above, I really have no idea what to even search on.

Probably you should inspect tasks/cron jobs/services on a given ip address.

I am not sure how looking at task/cron/services will help with determining and/or setting message length.

Your host with IP 'x.x.x.x' have a scheduled zabbix sender which is triggered whether from userparameter, scheduled task, cron, autorun or from service in rare cases. Inspect them to fix the issue - the sender is misconfigured.
