Internet availability monitoring with a widget

    Hey Guys,

I'm trying to monitor and log my Internet availability on my Zabbix server. I thought i could create an Item which pings 8.8.8.8 every 30s and then count it like "((number of successful pings)-(number of unsuccessful pings))/(number of all pings)*100" and then get the value in a widget. But I'm already struggling with the logging part. Does anyone have some advice that can help me out or maybe an easier solution to my problem?
    I'm using Zabbix 7.0.3 on a debian 12.6 VM.

    Thank You

    Hello Titanium22,

I think it would be easy to create a host with the desired IP address and assign the ICMP ping template to it.
If you change the monitoring interval of the created items ICMP ping and ICMP loss to 30 seconds, you should be able to operate as you want.

Just do a wget / cURL / whatever to http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt and if all is well you'll get an HTTP 200 response.
wget or curl requires userparameter or external script... using either web scenario or http item is easier. with web scenario you get also some additional data... roundtrip times etc..
