    Triggering actions via a cron?

    Hi guys,

We've got the christmas office dinner this evening..

Our boss, is so happy with the fact he will receive SMS messages from Zabbix if any of the servers go down...

So, we thought it would be soooooooo nice if he received some messages this evening while eating with us to tell him that ALL the machines had gone down :-D

So, is there a way we can call a function in PHP, via bash, whatever, to send out some messages to him... ideally with the last one being "¡Feliz Navidad! ;-)"

Hope someone knows how this can be done..

    Regards

You should be able to create a trigger that is only based on Time.. and configured so that when it hits the time you want, that it would become true, then create an action based on whatever you named that trigger.. set it to send a message to him. and you can put in whatever message you want it to say, High critical alarm.. etc.. etc..

The negative is he may see it in the list :-(

This is why we'd like to create something transparent that he can't see in the webUI...

      Any more ideas please?

In that case, just google sms scripts and find one that would send a message and customize and set that up to run from a cron job.

not quite as simple as that cos of the device... I tried to find the hooks Zabbix uses to send the SMS's.... but no success yet.. I'll keep look, or login to the system prior to leaving and add an action.. ;-) ur 1º idea is still good.. just he might see it..
