zabbix 2.4 on upgrade on centos 6.3

I have recently started a job as a network guy at a company that uses zabbix. So far I have enjoyed it but noticed we are running zabbix 2.4 and the screenshots for 3.X look better and I like things to be updated. We are using vmware to host our zabbix server on a centos 6.3 install. I wanted to upgrade to zabbix 3.2 so i exported the live VM and imported it to VMWare Workstation and have been tinkering with it.

Tonight at home I tried some other stuff and it appears that zabbix 3.X does not like centos 6.X. If i had to guess we may have 300-400 devices in the network communicating the the zabbix server. What is the BEST solution for upgrading to the latest zabbix server with minimal work on my part? Should i try to make it work with Centos 6.X? Or should i install a new centos 7.X server and try and import/reuse the current config?

    Thanks!

I don't have a CentOS 6.x available at the office, but I think I had this issue some months ago, and the problem was PHP, the version coming with the official centos repos was too old for Zabbix 3.x

Try to add a repo to install a newer version of php, and install Zabbix through the sources and not the packages, it may work.
