    Executing Nagios checks in Zabbix

We have been using Nagios for many many years and have made good use of the Nagios Plugins to monitor some 6000 servers on our network which has been working ok...

We really want to make the move to Zabbix really to make use of the HA capabilities and also the fact it is miles better than Nagios.

The Zabbix Agent is ideal, and we are able to role this to our own infrastructure with no problems (probably using puppet). The issue we have is our remaining customer servers that we sometimes don't have access to.

Due to this, we would like to still keep using the Nagios plugins available on these servers for now, and slowly migrate onto using the Zabbix agent at a later date.

Has anyone got any experience with executing checks from Zabbix using Nagios plugins?

And if so, is anyone able to point me in the right direction as to how I would go about doing this?

    Thanks in advance...

    Duncan.

You can use the nagios scripts without problems in your case .. that you do not have access to the servers ... you will need to create a template and the items generated by them will be of the External Script type,

This scripts when executed will bring the result to zabbix.

      I hope I have helped.

I guess there is an issue with Nagios scripts output.
Typically, it can be a long line, contains the status of request (OK/Problem) and some additional details (like average time of request, amount of files, etc)
        Example:
        GPING OK – rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.021/0.541/0.598/0.541 ms|time=0.541344ms pl=0%
        CPU Usage 98%|c[cpu]=98%;80;95;0;100
But! Zabbix use a different model to collect data - one item = one number.
So, "complicated Nagios output" must be split to many Zabbix Items to provide the same functionality.
It must be done manually, using home-made scripts, or editing NAGIOS scripts.

        Sorry.
