Merge two different zabbix severs in only one server

I have two Zabbix servers, actually two distinct Zabbix environments, and I need to combine this into a single new Zabbix implementation.
Has anyone ever had this need?
Is there any way to take all the objects from both environments to a single implementation?

Load of API calls, but I think it should be doable.. exporting things and recreating those over API should be quite foolproof. But in any way, it is a lot of work.. Specially with all the user right later etc..
