How to ignore PC or laptop offline times

    Hello,

I would like to monitor PCs and laptops (Linux with Agent 2) but don't get notififactions during times they are switched off. What is the best practice to implement this?

    Thank you!

I've got a separate host group "downtime expected" which I use to suppress unreachable messages for items in it.

You can also suppress other notifications (well, mostly) if you make them dependent on a ping check (the ping check has to go into an unavailable state fast enough to beat out other alerts, so especially for things like traps this might not be possible).

But that said, after several clients and much monitoring we just plain stopped monitoring PC's and laptops (and phones and other stuff people randomly turn off and on, printers being in a grey area as some are "production" and some are more personal).

      Thanks for your detailed answer!

What exactly did you do to suppress the messages in the host group "downtime expected"?

And sorry for the late response, the notification reached me only now?!
