Value Mapping not working?

I am sure I am screwing up a data type somewhere but I can't figure where. This is on 7.0.4. I have an item that runs a Perl script to check if SIP is available. The script output either has '200 OK" in it or any other number of errors.


Then I want to do a value map.



However when I look at latest data, I get a 1 or 0 and the Value Map doesn't apply. What am I missing?

Hey! After creating your value mapping, have you selected it in the "Item" tab when configurating your item?

That's it! I had it set to Text and that option wasn't offered. Set to Numeric and voila. THANK YOU! Sheesh.
