Reporting Zabbix Agent Config file Versions.

    Evening.

After having our zabbix agent files reset when going from 6 to 7 I'm trying to ensure that I have a consistent Config file set across my zabbix agents and wondering how others are doing it.

At present, I've got about 6 different conf file purposes each with different user parameters in them.o

My current thoughts are to add 2 specific user parameter to the conf file,
    1) ConfFileName which is set to the main purpose of the file/host type
    2) ConfFileVersion which is set to a Version Number

Both these are then supported by a generic template that i can apply to all my hosts.

It's a bit more Config control to set up, but I feel it will pay off as we grow and change user parameters over time.

Does anyone else have experience of using other methods?

    Thanks very much.

We manage everything with Puppet, so we don't monitor the config, we manage it :-)

Thanks - Management rather than monitoring is the right solution, and we're looking at Management tools like Puppet and Ansible, but that's likely a longer term plan to get that setup and operational.

We're also aware that Developers and Testers like (and need) rapid development environments, and I want to get a bit more control of history over those, so tracking the config's last changed date can provide a bit more visibility within a very small development/team.
