How to Export Discovered vmWare Hosts for "backup config purposes"
Afternoon All.
As part of any disaster recovery plan, I'm trying to ensure that i have a solid backup of our zabbix hosts such that if we need to re-create stuff from a complete cold start from a total loss
As part of this, using the zabbix front end, i've selected all hosts and exported them to a YAML file; but as part of the disaster recovery testing we've noted that this doesn't include any Zabbix hosts that were originally discovered via the VMware Tools discovery rules, even if we then added additional items or other templates to that host, meaning that we've not "actively" got everything we thought we did. When this was circa 30 VMs this is less than ideal..
Is there an updated guidance on the exporting of Hosts from the front end to ensure that even if the hosts were auto-discovered that they are backed up (2022 - Backups to the rescue! - Zabbix Blog)
It's not clear if taking the MySQL database will include those either.
