    Excluding parts of vCenter monitoring

Hi all. Using Zabbix 7.0.5 on Rocky 9.

We're all setup monitoring of our vCenter 7 using the standard VMware template and macros, however there items in VC that we don't want to monitor, such as the VMs our many end-users endlessly create/destroy.
So my question is, what's the best way to continue to monitor ESXi, Datastores, Clusters and only VMs with specific characteristics such as filtered maybe by IP or the network they are on, or maybe by tag or category?
I appreciate that we could just hide them however we also want to reduce the size of our database.

    Thanks,
    Sunny

I thought about using tags and categories, filtering by IP range etc. but in the end I've just turned off the default discovery rule for virtual machines, leaving the ones for clusters, datastores and hypervisors as they are. Now I will create a new rule that's more targeted for my management VMs only. I can now delete the unwanted VMs, around 1900 of them which will reduce the size of the database nicely. If anyone has a better solution please let me know.
