    Uptime without agent or SNMP

Hello, I am new to the Zabbix community.

I have wifi hotspots that are not SNMP compatible, so I simply ping the host name.

Is it possible to also recover the uptime ?

    Hello!

I'm not sure that i understood you correctly, but if you want to calculate system uptime for device by SNMP you can take any generic SNMP OID for that.

    For example - 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0

Next you need to create an Item for gathering the data from your device. You can do it by creating a new item with Type "SNMP agent" and enter the OID in the field OID (you can type any text in field "Key", but without spaces).

With this OID you will get raw data, for example 163394857.

Next you need to set S in the Units field (this will change the format of data from raw into seconds).

Next you have to go into the Preprocessing bookmark and add "Custom multiplier" as 0.01, this will transfrom you raw data into the reading format for item, for example 1 633 948,57

This way you will get expected result in the Latest data for your item, for example 18d 21:52:29. This data will equal Uptime for your device.

In case if you want to do the same with Zabbix agent you need to use system.uptime Key with Item Type = Zabbix agent. This way more simple))))

Is it not the type of access point that works only when connected to Cisco Wireless Lan Controller? If so, you might be able to get desired data via SNMP from WLC, tho it was like 5 years since I was setting up WLC monitoring, so my memory about it is super hazy
