7.0 to 7.2.0

Hi everyone,

I'm new to working with Zabbix and still getting familiar with its setup and maintenance. We're currently running version 7.0, but I'm aware there's a new vulnerability that ideally needs patching.

If we update to 7.2.0, would we also need to update our Zabbix agents, or can they continue functioning with the current version while we transition? Any advice or best practices for managing this kind of update would be greatly appreciated!

7.2 is not even out yet... only rc versions exist. Those should not be used in any production environment.
With all those vulnerabilities, there are versions, which are affected... and also versions, which fix it.. So minor version besides just "7.0" IS important... What version you are running? 7.0.X ? What vulnerability you are trying to "patch"?

My mistake! It is still in 7.2 dev. So 7.0.1rc1 - I'm assuming can just more or less go ahead with the patch?

Zabbix said three product versions are affected and should be upgraded to the latest available:

• 6.0.0…6.0.31
• 6.4.0…6.4.16
• 7.0.0

I still dont get, what version you are actually running...? If it is anything higher than mentioned (even 7.0.1rc1 is higher), then you are already free of vulnerabilities... in v7 latest is 7.0.6...it contais everything, that came with 7.0.1(rc1) and all the following versions...

I upgraded yesterday to the LTS release that I saw in the downloads.

To answer the OP question: yes, the 7.0.X agents will work with 7.2 server. I just did the 7.2 server upgrade yesterday.
I can take my time and upgrade the client agents as time allows.
