How to change "next time to check" from 1969

I've installed zabbix and have it working - sort of.

    1. What is the significance of "12.31.1969" in the "next time to check" field in the QUEUE section? How do I set the time on zabbix to reflect the current date and time? It only seems to want to work in 1969?

    2. In the drop down year box under LATEST VALUES the only year I can select is 1969. The Month, Day, and Hour are all correct. Only the year is incorrect and I can only see 1969. How to I change this so I can see the current year?

It looks like 1969 is the only year that the site wants to report on. How to I fix this problem throughout zabbix?

I am very confused by this aspect of what appears to be a great product. Any constructive help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

I was getting that that too - but it's one second less than UNIX time zero, so i suspect the value being put in is "-1" or "invalid".

I was trying 1.1alpha6 and due to this and the fact that templates weren't working, and the server was inexplicably shutting down, I tried 1.0 instead and it's working. Mind you, I also time-synched to time.nrc.ca.... I wonder if zabbix uses "-1" to indicate that the remote server is too far out of sync from the main server....?

    What version are you using?

I had that when I had one host in, but it was unable to reach it. Try adding the host to the network map and see if it says host unreachable.

I had the same problem, a workaround and by no means a solution for me was to change Active agent to regular passive... all of a sudden I started seeing updates. Still trying to work out as to why when set to Active I get nothing at all and items queued up with update in 1969.

I just changed a handful of items from the regular passive mode to active mode and I too now have a handful of items with a next check time of 1969 in my Queue for one particular host and I am not getting new values from this host....... How can I clear out these old dates and get it checking again?

I also have some items from the last couple of days and some that are current.. My queue stayed empty before I made the change to active agent, but I needed to lower the load on my zabbix server. It's not new by a long shot and I needed to relieve some strain on it.

To lower the number of items queued up.. do I need to increase the number of listening agents?.. or ... ? and why do I have some listed from the day before? For the last week there has always been some in the queue from the day before...

Yes, items in the queue with a timestamp of 1969 mean there is something wrong with them, and they will never collect a value. Either Zabbix can't communicate with the server due to high network traffic or CPU load, or the item is malformed, or there is a configuration problem with the Zabbix agent and/or server.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, there isn't a general fix for these errors; you just have to look at the item, the Zabbix server, and the server you're collecting the values from, and make sure everything is in order. When the item's settings are fixed, it's timestamp in the queue will change to something other than 1969, and the item will move correctly through the queue.

The only thing is that the server is getting it's item info from a template and the other dozen servers that are using the same template are collecting information just fine... so I don't know what I would need to change in the settings for the item... since it works for the other servers... just not this one............

I figured out why I wasn't getting any data from that server.. I had the hostname set wrong in the agent config. Once I fixed that, now the items in my queue with a date of 1969 went away and I have been getting new data from that server now!
